Key Levers of a Business

Reaching New Heights:
Unlocking Performance That Drives Business Growth

Nelson Tepfer
Co-Founder and CEO of ProCFO Partners
January 10, 2025

One out of every five companies succeed in scaling their business beyond five years. The other four fail.  Many of those fail to stay in business. Far more simply fail to reach their potential. Why does this happen? They’re stuck reviewing content when they need to be finding context. For most companies, financial reporting, analysis, and KPIs are used to indicate where they’ve been—historical data on what they can no longer influence or impact.

In today’s dynamic business environment, these companies struggle to maintain their financial health and reach their full potential. They fail to recognize that their finance and accounting functions often represent a significant blind spot. Navigating this complex landscape and achieving sustainable growth requires expert financial leadership.

ProCFO Partner’s Co-Founder and CEO Nelson Tepfer has spent his entire career helping companies grow, scale, and thrive. His capability for transformational contribution is at the heart of his abilities as a financial officer. Having held leadership roles across organizations large and small, Nelson’s experience spans nearly a dozen industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, transportation, real estate, digital marketing, legal, and other professional services. He has served in the roles of CFO, interim CFO, COO, and consultant, working with companies of all sizes to achieve their strategic, financial, and operational goals. Nelson earned an M.B.A. in Corporate Finance, Financial Instruments and Markets, and Accounting from NYU’s Stern School of Business.

In this session, Nelson will be discussing the six key financial functionsthat every company needs in order to continue its ascent.  You will learn how they all are interconnected, the difference between financial functions and financial responsibility, and what your business might be missing in terms of the financial skill set and framework required to grow.
